As the governor of Indonesia’s largest province, Mochamad Ridwan Kamil realized the need to shift from manual operations to digital solutions. Harnessed from his vision, the West Java Digital Province is a flagship initiative that aims to digitally transform government functions through integrating ICT innovation and enabling collaboration with local start-ups. To connect citizens from remote villages into the digital highway, he pushed for the launch of Desa Digital that made internet accessible in far-flung locations in West Java. With the objective of improving the livelihood of his constituents, the Digital Village Fishery benefited the lives of over 225 local fish farmers by increasing their income up to 100%.
As a duly elected public service official, he also established Jabar Quick Response, a platform in which citizens can report accidents, disasters, or damages to public facilities, and the appropriate special unit team will be sent to take action. Since its launch, it has received more than 8,000 reports across the province. Mr. Kamil also launched the E-Samsat J’bret (Electronic Vehicle Tax-Paying System), in which vehicle owners are encouraged to pay taxes due to its convenient nature. In the first five months of its inception, it has increased government revenue by over IDR 76 billion. Guided by an ambitious program and forward-thinking mindset, Mochamad Ridwan Kamil continuously works on decreasing the digital divide and improving the quality of life of West Java’s citizens. |
