The IDC DX Hong Kong Summit 2020 was successfully held last October 19. Technology vendors and leading organizations shared insights and best practices. The summit showcased thought-provoking presentations from IT providers and CXOs. On the other hand, recognitions were given to the IDC DX Awards winners. They are the new breed of DX champions who implemented groundbreaking digital initiatives. Moreover, they were able to address the CEO’s new agenda. To summarize, these areas are meeting new customer requirements, developing new capabilities, ensuring new critical infrastructure, and participating in new industry ecosystems.
Avneesh Saxena, Group Vice President, Domain Research, IDC Asia/Pacific opened with a welcome address. In contrast, Simon Piff, Vice President, Security & Future of Work Practice, IDC Asia/Pacific followed up with a keynote about Winning Today and Leading in the Next Normal. Afterward, Darryl Su, Sales Lead, North Asia, Tealium, talked about the Customer Data Platform. In particular, he discussed the evolving nature of customer engagement by citing use cases and success stories. Shortly after, a dialogue session was held about Business Innovation for Post Pandemic Success. The panel featured Daniel Kwong from CITIC Telecom International, Joe Yau from Openrice Limited, and Nigel Parsons from IDC Asia/Pacific.
Creating Value in the Digital Economy
Tricor Group’s Group Transformation Director Eric Cheung shared the lessons that they learned from COVID-19. Specifically, he spoke about how Tricor Group has pivoted its digital transformation (DX) portfolio to match the changing client needs and market conditions. Meanwhile, another panel discussion was held which included Peter Lee from IBM Greater China, Jeff Hui from IBM Hong Kong, and Avneesh Saxena from IDC Asia/Pacific. For this purpose, they talked about succeeding in the new era of accelerated DX. In their exchanges, they emphasized the role of IT infrastructure as a critical enabler. Finally, Ted Suen, Chief Information Officer, MTR, wrapped it up by describing their DX journey. He recalled the obstacles that they encountered on their road to DX. Also, he enumerated strategies on how they were able to overcome them.
Introducing the IDC DX Awardees 2020 from Hong Kong
In Asia/Pacific, almost 1300 high-quality entries were received. More than 640 end-user organizations submitted their nominations. This year’s IDC Digital Transformation Awards (DXa) from Hong Kong are led by MTR (Digital Transformer) and MediConCen Limited (Digital Disruptor). Notwithstanding, other winners for Hong Kong include AIA Group, Hong Kong Baptist University, and Openrice Limited to name a few. Indeed, the IDC DX Hong Kong Summit 2020 showcased promising DX projects in the country.
